Here's what's been on our minds over the past fortnight:
💸 From The Great Resignation to The Great Realignment
The Great Resignation is a hot topic and it's impacts are being felt across the United States and further abroad. Yet Salesforce ANZ & ASEAN CEO Pip Marlow says Australian companies might avoid “the great resignation” sweeping the United States, but may instead have to contend with the “great relocation” and “great realignment”.
“The great realignment is realignment to your values. I want to work for a company or an organisation that will align to my values.
“That’s the shift that I’m seeing and the companies that move quickly on that, it will be a competitive advantage to them.”
💡 The Future of Work is Projects
Companies of every size in every industry and part of the world are basing more of their work around projects. And yet research shows that nearly two-thirds of those efforts fail.
Antonio Nieto-Rodriguez, who has studied projects and project management for decades, explains how we can do better. He offers advice on the right way to frame projects, how to structure organisations around them, and pitfalls to avoid. Nieto-Rodriguez is the author of the Harvard Business Review Project Management Handbook and author of the article “The Project Economy Has Arrived.”
🎙 Expert Series | Slack & Expert360
We were excited to welcome the Head of Asia Pacific for Slack, Matt Loop, to our latest Expert Series event with our Expert community.
Matt and Bridget discussed the future of work, how Matt got to where he is today, joining Slack 3 months before Covid hit, and the Salesforce acquisition.
“The world is changing - you can’t rely on a five year plan anymore”
💡 Strategy for a Digital World
Digital’s ascendancy is visible not only in the dominance of hyperscale tech companies but in the success of non-digital-native companies such as John Deere, Goldman Sachs, BHP, Disney, and Bosch, among others.
These companies have invested heavily in new digitally enabled strategies and business models. Not only did they enter the pandemic with bigger technology endowments than their peers—they continued to outspend them on digital technology as the pandemic went along.
